Company summary

GLO Marine is an engineering-led turnkey retrofit specialist operating across the maritime and offshore energy markets. We deliver vessel retrofits, upgrades and drydock works, alongside structural works and modular packages for offshore EPC developments.

The group operates through several entities, with offices in Galați, Bucharest, Mangalia and London. With project-driven revenue across both markets, project financial control and reliable group reporting are central to how we manage the business.

Job summary

We are looking for a Group Financial Planning & Analysis Manager to take ownership of the quality of group financial reporting and lead budgeting, forecasting and performance analysis across our entities.

You will bring together financial data from multiple entities, systems and projects, reconcile the underlying numbers and turn them into reliable information for management and the board. Project financial control is a central part of the role, covering revenue, costs, work in progress, cost-to-complete and profitability.

This is a senior, hands-on position. You will prepare and reconcile financial information yourself, challenge assumptions, resolve inconsistencies and improve how the numbers are produced. Alongside reporting and analysis, you will strengthen controls and reduce manual effort through standardisation, better use of systems and automation.

The role involves regular collaboration across time zones and jurisdictions. The proposed reporting line is to the Group CFO, subject to confirmation.

Key responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and consolidated group reporting.
  • Consolidate results across entities and validate the underlying reporting schedules.
  • Review and reconcile the profit and loss account, balance sheet and cash flow in detail, resolving inconsistencies and unreconciled balances.
  • Prepare concise financial commentary for management and the board, explaining performance, material variances and financial risks.
  • Lead group budgeting and forecasting, monitoring financial performance throughout the year.
  • Analyse actual results against budget and forecast, identifying and explaining the drivers behind material variances.
  • Analyse working capital, cash and balance sheet movements to support financial planning and management decisions.
  • Maintain financial control over projects, covering revenue, direct and indirect costs, work in progress (WIP), cost-to-complete, profitability and margin.
  • Improve and standardise management reporting, financial controls and models across group entities.
  • Build and maintain advanced Excel models and make effective use of ERP and accounting systems.
  • Identify and implement automation and AI-enabled processes that reduce manual finance administration and improve reporting efficiency.

Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
  • Substantial experience as a Group Financial Controller, Financial Controller or senior FP&A professional within an international, multi-entity business.
  • Proven experience in financial consolidation, management reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Strong project accounting experience, including WIP, cost-to-complete and project profitability analysis.
  • A thorough understanding of profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow and working capital analysis.
  • Advanced Excel modelling skills and strong practical knowledge of ERP and accounting systems.
  • A recognised professional finance qualification, such as ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent.
  • Fluent written and spoken Romanian and English.
  • Ability to work effectively across entities, jurisdictions and time zones.
Highly desirable:
  • Experience in maritime or marine engineering, bringing sector knowledge and relevant finance best practice.
  • Experience in other project-driven operational businesses, including engineering, manufacturing or offshore energy.
  • Practical experience improving financial processes through standardisation, automation and more effective use of finance systems.

Personal profile

We are looking for someone who quickly understands a business and its financial data, takes ownership and works with minimal supervision.

You should be comfortable interrogating information from multiple sources, challenging assumptions and following discrepancies through to resolution. Attention to detail and sound judgement are essential, together with the confidence to raise risks and inconsistencies early.

You will combine strong analytical skills with clear communication, producing concise financial commentary and practical improvements to reporting, controls and processes.

What success looks like

Management and the board receive timely, accurate and reconciled financial information, with clear explanations of performance, variances and risks.

Group budgets and forecasts reflect the underlying business and project outlook. Project reporting provides reliable visibility of revenue, costs, WIP, cost-to-complete and margins, allowing emerging issues to be identified early.

Reporting becomes more consistent across entities, controls are strengthened and manual finance administration is reduced through better systems and processes.

Benefits
  • A senior, hands-on finance role within an international, multi-entity group.
  • Responsibility across group reporting, financial planning and project financial control.
  • Exposure to engineering and retrofit projects across maritime and offshore energy markets.
  • The opportunity to improve financial controls, reporting systems and processes across the business.
  • Direct involvement in preparing financial information used by management and the board.
