Client context

BOURBON, a prominent industry leader with a fleet of over 500 vessels specializing in offshore services, is known for its unwavering commitment to operational excellence. The Bourbon Group continually strives to fulfill its clients’ diverse requirements by providing an extensive array of services in both continental and deepwater offshore environments. Collaborating with BOURBON entails consistently delivering top-tier performance and taking a proactive approach, fostering a partnership ethos rather than a conventional supplier-client relationship. In terms of retrofits, they always need complete custom solutions delivered in time.

The Challenge

Bourbon Offshore faced a time-sensitive challenge have a new ballast water treatment system installed on the Bourbon Front before the upcoming offshore campaign in Namibian waters. The project had to be completed during the vessel’s voyage from Gibraltar to Namibia, without the convenience of a standard dry-docking period or access to shore resources. This demanded precise execution in design and procurement, ensuring a successful installation within the fixed 25-day window.

PROJECT SOLUTION

Involvement of GLOMARINE throughout the project stages

01

Design and Engineering

Smooth collaboration between design team, procurement team and site team has proven to be key for successful installations during voyage, where reliance on an on-shore workshop to fix issues within short notice, is not an option.

02

Procurement

Prefabrication has been supervised and inspected bi-weekly by GLO Marine’s surveyor, to ensure all components are built precisely as per the material lists generated during design phase.

03

Installation Guide

Our dedicated Project Manager carefully laid out all installation works over the 25 days installation window, with clear quotas and KPIs for each day and handed over the project plan to our Installation Supervisor, who boarded the Bourbon Front together with 5 Pipe fitters and 1 Electrician to execute the job.

During installation, our on-board Installation Supervisor reported the real progress made against the forecasted schedule, at the end of each day, information which was shared with our Client for transparency and clarity.
