Company summary

GLO Marine is an engineering and project delivery company serving the marine, offshore and energy industries. Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Romania, it holds every discipline a complex project requires in-house: naval architecture, structural, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, controls and project management.

Technical decisions are followed through procurement, fabrication, integration, installation and commissioning, under one contract and one project manager. Systems are assembled and tested before they reach the vessel or site, so interfaces are resolved early and work onboard is reduced. GLO Marine supports asset owners, operators, shipyards and equipment manufacturers internationally.

Job summary
If you hold an engineering degree but prefer sitting where technical design meets commercial strategy, this is that role.
Based in Bucharest and reporting directly to the Director of Marketing & Business Development, you will work on opportunities long before they become projects. You will research markets, decode technical scopes behind client enquiries, coordinate cross-functional teams, and find specialist partners for unfamiliar projects. We need an engineering background, not a purely commercial one, to read complex specifications, ask the right technical questions, and keep non-standard bids moving to a deadline.

Key responsibilities
  • Research target clients, fleets, and markets - who they are, what they operate, and what they are likely to need.
  • Qualify new opportunities and prepare the summary on which we decide whether to pursue them.

  • Work out the technical scope behind an enquiry - what the job actually involves, and what it would take to deliver.

  • Coordinate small cross-functional teams on unfamiliar opportunities: kick-off, open questions, and chasing information to closure.

  • Find and shortlist specialist partners and suppliers where we need capability we don't hold in-house, and support the checks on them.

  • Attend client and partner meetings, write the record, and own the follow-up.

  • Keep the business development portfolio current - initiatives, contacts, actions, and decisions.

  • Track competitors, regulation, and technology in our growth areas, and turn them into short, usable intelligence.

  • Prepare meetings, organise visits, and support trade shows and conferences end-to-end.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Essential:
    • A technical degree from a polytechnic or technical university (electrical, mechanical, marine or naval, industrial, offshore, or energy engineering).

    • 0–2 years' experience. Recent graduates are welcome; internships, placements, or shipyard practice count.

    • Able to read drawings, single-line diagrams, and specifications — or to pick it up quickly.

    • Clear, accurate written English. Much of the job is writing things other people rely on, so it has to be accurate and readable.

    • Organised and self-directed. You will hold several threads at once and chase people for answers without being reminded.

    • Willingness to travel for client meetings, yard and site visits, and industry events (roughly 10–20% of your time).

  • Highly desirable:
    • Exposure to shipbuilding, ship repair, retrofit, or offshore work, including student placements.

    • Familiarity with marine electrical systems, power distribution, automation, or shore power.

    • Experience with technical documentation, CAD, or specification work.

    • A further language beyond Romanian and English.

Personal profile

We are looking for someone technically curious who would rather understand how something works than talk around it, comfortable saying “I don't know yet, I'll find out”, and careful about the difference between a fact and an assumption. A lot of this work concerns things the company has not done before, so an appetite for unfamiliar problems matters more than polish.

What success looks like

This is an entry point into business development, not a support job with a vague promise attached. The Business Development Coordinator will play a key role in enabling GLO Marine to evaluate and capture new, unfamiliar market opportunities efficiently.

The expected step, within 12–18 months, is to carry your own initiatives and leading opportunities rather than supporting them. The criteria are written down and reviewed with you, so you know what you are working towards.

Benefits
  • Direct exposure to international shipowners, operators, and partners from early on.

  • Breadth across engineering, estimating, operations, and commercial that is hard to get this early in a career.

  • Real responsibility on live opportunities, working directly with the director who runs the function.

  • Travel to client sites, shipyards, and industry events across Europe and beyond.

  • Competitive salary package, performance bonuses, meal vouchers, private health insurance, and hybrid work options.

  • Modern work equipment (laptop, company phone).
