Job summary

The Team Leader for the Hull Department oversees design and engineering on projects, presenting technical solutions to both client and company management, including non-technical audiences. This role involves making crucial technical decisions with significant risks and interdisciplinary impacts, balancing client expectations with project constraints like schedule, quality, and budget.

Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership: Serve as the technical expert within the Hull Design Department, disseminating knowledge and guiding all engineering staff.
  • Client and Class Society Engagement: Represent the department in meetings with clients and Class Societies, providing expert advice and insights.
  • Technical Support: Offer ongoing technical assistance for all projects, ensuring engineering excellence and adherence to best practices.
  • Documentation and Best Practices: Develop checklists, technical guides, and best practice documents to standardize and improve hull design processes.
  • Project Management: Oversee smaller projects, assuming project management responsibilities as required, and prepare execution plans for new initiatives.
  • Technical Evaluation: Evaluate and recommend engineering design tools, software, and new technologies to enhance departmental efficiency and project outcomes.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure adherence to quality standards, company procedures, and controlled design methodologies throughout project execution.
  • Professional Development: Foster professional growth within the team, contributing to and following up on development plans, and improving the company’s Quality Management System.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Naval Architecture or Mechanical Engineering; a Master’s Degree in a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of continuous design experience in naval architecture, with at least 3 years focused on basic design.
  • Profound knowledge and expertise in core design software tools relevant to the discipline.
  • Proficiency in interpreting class rules and industry codes such as ISO, NS, and EUROCODE.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Excellent command of English, both in writing and speaking.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001: 2015 standards is highly beneficial.
